calvin klein X red hook labs
CALVIN KLEIN is pleased to announce the brand has partnered with Brooklyn’s Red Hook Labs Youth Community Programs. Established in 2015 by Jimmy Moffat, a founding partner of creative agency Art + Commerce, Red Hook Labs was conceived as a platform to discover and champion emerging photographic talents, just as Moffat fostered some of today’s most bold-faced names in photography, hair and makeup.
Labs nonprofit Youth Community Programs – which today has locations in Red Hook, Brooklyn and Downtown Los Angeles – supports local communities by providing teen programs which link year-round skills training with professional opportunities. Primarily focused on education, Red Hook Labs funds no-cost in-school and after-school programs in photography, utilizing unique relationships with industry figures to integrate mentorships, internships and job placement.
Throughout 2017, a rotating group of CALVIN KLEIN associates have volunteered their time serving as panelists, lecturers and mentors to the students of the Youth Career Program, an advanced, select group from Labs Youth Community Programs. From the briefing process, to concepting and ultimately producing a photo shoot, the initiative’s participants garnered an invaluable, first-hand understanding of the creative industry, culminating in the realization of each student’s final project. The resulting images will debut on the CALVIN KLEIN Projects page in early 2018.
